Course Overview and Target Audience

This course is designed for surgeons, integrated health personnel, program administrators, practice managers, and program billers/coders and will provide information on considerations that may impact reimbursement for bariatric providers. It focuses on a multitude of areas that are relevant to reimbursement and will deliver strategies and tips to assist with managing this complex issue.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Prepare for different models of employment
  • Better understand standard business models for efficiency and problem solving
  • Discuss bariatric surgery billing and coding considerations, use of physician extenders, and aftercare considerations
  • Discuss effective management of claim denials

Maintenance of Certification

For bariatric surgeons, surgeons new to the field of bariatric surgery and primary clinicians, this event will provide CME in their specific specialty to comply with Maintenance of Certification (MOC) in the following areas: (1) Interpersonal and Communication Skills, (2) Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, (3) Systems-based Practice.
