Course Overview and Target Audience

This course is designed to provide a foundation that will assist the learner in comprehending and identifying the essential components to become certified or re-certified within the accreditation and quality improvement program.  The course is designed for surgeons, facility administrators and integrated health team members who participate in the development and implementation of the bariatric surgery accreditation program in their hospital or practice.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the requirements of the accreditation program
  • Recognize and discuss new outcomes-based criteria, how it is generated, and how it will impact surgeon and facility
  • Demonstrate how to interpret and use program date for quality improvement
  • Cite the requirements for building and maintaining a new quality improvement program
